Ohhh, the beloved plank pose.
It is a pose many yoga students seem to loathe but I happen to love.
Perhaps it is the former financial analyst in me who likes being able to measure improvement in how many more seconds I can hold the pose each time, knowing that this is also a measure of my mind getting stronger.
Perhaps it is because of all of the physical benefits of the pose. Plank tones all of the core muscles - abs, chest, low back, as well as arms and shoulders - and teaches us to create stability in the shoulder girdle and core.
Or, perhaps it is because if Marge Simpson can pull off a damn good plank with that massive beehive of a hairdo, then surely I can too.
Minifigure yoga class arranged by my 7yo daughter. Apparently Homer Simpson and the jailbird at the other end of the room are playing loud rock music while the yogis want to listen to "Om Namah Shivaya" chanting.
