"Being positive has become a new form of moral correctness." ~Susan David
What if instead of needing to "be strong" or "stay positive", we could just let our feelings come and go as they are, showing some vulnerability and imperfection to others without fear of judgment?
What if instead of feeling the need to advise or console or scold our friends, family and children when they are upset, we instead just listened or hugged and held the space for them to release those emotions?
What if instead of labeling emotions as good or bad, we could be authentic with whatever comes up, recognising that feeling emotions, even the less enjoyable ones, means that we are alive?
As Susan David says in this video, "Only dead people ever get unwanted or inconvenienced by their feelings".
